Iulia Circiumaru, M.D., is a board certified physician with over two decades of experience in the field of internal medicine and rheumatology.
Dr. Circiumaru was born and raised in Romania, where she grew up in a family of healthcare professionals. Her mother served as a nurse, while a sister also pursued a career in medicine, becoming a physician. Inspired by her family’s dedication to helping others, she obtained her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1993.
After moving to the United States in 1999, she completed her internal medicine residency at Danbury Hospital and completed her fellowship in rheumatology at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence.
For over a decade, she has been providing quality care for patients at her own practice in scenic Barrington. Her hospital affiliations include the Providence VA Medical Center, where she operates a rheumatology clinic and supervises rheumatology fellows, as well as Women & Infants Hospital in Providence.
For the past 18 years, Dr. Circiumaru has been an Assistant Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and previously served as Chief of Division of Rheumatology at Memorial Hospital. She mentors medical students from Brown University, who regularly assist her at her office in Barrington.
She is the recipient of several postgraduate awards and honors, including the prestigious Arthur M. Phillips, MD Mentorship Award from Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island as well as the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Her professional memberships include the American College of Physicians-American Board of Internal Medicine; the American College of Rheumatology and the Clinical Immunology Society.
In her spare time, Dr. Circiumaru enjoys going for long walks with her German Shepherds, Teddy and Sweetie.
